The Role

Based in the Scottsboro, AL area (Hollywood), the Controls Engineer will provide Electrical Controls and Robotic Engineering skills and leadership to achieve optimal levels of safety, quality, productivity, and delivery to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction.

As a Controls Engineer, you can expect your basic duties to include:

  • Maintaining PLC-based control and robotic systems for manufacturing automation and instrumentation
  • Performing PLC ladder logic / robot programming
  • Leading all troubleshooting activities and debugging of robotics programs
  • Programming a variety of robotic / automated equipment
  • Working closely with engineering team to define system control and robotic needs
  • Guides design, develops and tests electrical control methods, materials, processes and results
  • Reviews and / or approve designs, calculations, or cost estimates
  • Evaluates designs or specifications to ensure quality
  • Installs, calibrates, operates, and maintains robots
  • Leads projects and assist skilled trades in electrical disciplines
  • Supports electrical / controls troubleshooting and continuous improvement activities
  • Recommends solutions to complex issues
  • Mentors less experienced colleagues
  • Provides key input into the development of departmental strategic goals and identifies key measurables to support departmental goals
  • Generates wiring schematics and control drawings, maintains plant electrical and robotic drawings
  • Trains, coaches, and mentors colleagues

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience performing duties similar to those listed would be a great start!
  • Background and strong skills related to automation / robotics / controls
  • PLC programming experience with Allen-Bradley and Siemens
  • Robotics troubleshooting / programming experience (ABB and/or Fanuc experience preferred)
  • Experience troubleshooting high-voltage AC power (280V) and low-voltage DC power (24V)
  • Previous WJ programming (ABB) would be a big plus
